Writer:
• How does the writer represent him or herself in terms of gender, age, or location?
The writer more or less represents the product that they are trying to describe instead of themselves.
• What are the social, political, and religious perspectives espoused by the writer?
The social view expressed by this author is that the world is a dangerous and violent place that requires self protection.
• What qualities or characteristics do you share with the writer? How are you different?
I believe that the world is becoming a more and more dangerous place as time progresses. Also I believe that personal protection is necessary to protect yourself. However, I do not believe that guns should be carried on a person.
• What elements lead you to believe that the writer is being forthright and honest in representing him or herself? What elements suggest that writer is not being forthright and honest?
The author is delegating facts about a gun for defense.
• What is the writer’s stated purpose for maintaining a blog?
Surviving the developing world.
• Why do you think the writer maintains the blog?
I think the writer maintains the blog in order to make people aware of the personal protection that is out there.
• How does the writer demonstrate authenticity, veracity, expertise, or trustworthiness?
The writer demonstrates authenticity by presenting facts that can be verified on other websites.
Reader / Audience:
• Who is the intended reader, or what is the intended audience of this blog?
The intended audience for this blog are those readers who are worried about their self-defense.
• What assumptions does the blog's creator make about an intended audience? How does the writer demonstrate those assumptions?
The writer assumes that the reader is knowledgeable about self defense products. This is demonstrated when the writer uses acronyms that represent a certain type of pepper gas.
• What groups of people would not be part of the desired audience, and why?
Those people that do not believe in physical violence might not be a desired audience because this product is made to be used in violent situations.

This site uses a variety of different blogs to show readers that many different topics are there to read about.

Males and females that live in areas where domestic violence is common will visit this blog.

Readers visit this bog in order to be informed on personal protection and survival tactics.

Many people interact with this blog so that they may add links that they think are interesting or to thank the author for their input.
• Why would this site appeal to the intended audience? What aspects would draw readers? What aspects would turn them away?
The bold face caption that says self-defense would draw the lack of detailed information might turn readers away.

I am drawn to this site as an intended audience member. However, since I don’t think that weapons should be carried on a person. That might prevent me from returning.
Subject / Content:
• What elements make this site more appealing to the intended reader or audience (consider layout, organization, use of photo and graphics, etc)?
The photo that is included with this blog makes it more appealing. Also the graphic at the top of the web page makes it appealing as well.
• What kind of language does the writer use (formal, informal, jargon filled, etc)?
The language used in this blog is informational.
• How is the blog organized? What form does it take (i.e. a journal or diary, links, news)?
This blog is organized similarly to an advertisement or journal.
• Does the blog include advertising? If so, how does the advertising appeal to the intended reader?
The blog does include advertising, which makes this blog feel more trustworthy and factual.
• How does the writer present information? Does the writer use evidence? Does the writer rely on his or her opinion?
The writer uses factual evidence to bring across a more provable blog of information.
• What makes the content believable? What makes it unbelievable?
The content is believable because it can be proven by visiting other websites.
• How do readers interact with or influence the content?
Readers interact with the content by putting in their input to other products that are used for self defense.
• How did you relate or react to the content?
I thought the content was great and I took immediate interest in the information.
Message:
• What is the blog’s message? Is the writer attempting to define, explain, or describe something?
The writer is attempting to describe this defense product.
• In what ways is the message balanced? In what ways is it imbalanced?
The message is balance on factual information, but is lacking personal opinions.
• In what ways is it ideological ?
It’s ideological in the way that it expresses factual information.
• In what ways is the message problematic?
The message suggest that the world is violent.
• Why should you believe and accept what you encounter in the blog? Why should you be skeptical?
I should believe this blog because it is factual and can be proven.

  • Gas prices rising again.
  • Am I taking on to much this semester?
  • When will our economy pull out of this recession.
  • If I needed to drop a class, how would that effect my insurance?
  • Where should I choose to apply for a summer job?
  • Should I take summer courses?
  • Are welfare checks going only to those people who truly need them?
  • Are illegal immigrants taking over jobs that could be given to Americans, which could in turn decrease our unemployment rate?
  • Can I balance time between school and everything else?
